Over the past sixteen years, I have had the opportunity to work with numerous couples who are getting married and planning their wedding. Every bride-to-be has unique ideas about how to make her wedding a day to remember forever. Whether it is a traditional wedding or a wedding that is one of a kind, music is a large part of what brings about the character and setting of each wedding. For this reason, I have a wide variety of music available on the harp in diverse genres. I also offer a free consultation that includes a live performance for anyone planning their wedding. This gives each bride-to-be the opportunity to choose what music best suits her personal style.

Listed below are song suggestions for the wedding ceremony. These suggestions are simply guidelines to help you choose music for your wedding. Keep in mind any of these songs can be used at any part of the ceremony and there are hundreds more songs available to choose from in addition to what is listed below. (Click on each song title for a sound sample.)

Prelude

The prelude is 15 to 30 minutes of music that is played while the guests are being seated before the ceremony starts. The prelude music helps set the mood for the wedding. The prelude consists of either classical music, hymns, popular love songs, or a mix of all genres.

Processional
(Entrance of the Family and/or Wedding Party)

The processional often begins with the seating of the grandparents and parents of the bride and groom. Once the families have been seated, the wedding party enters, usually to a different song. Listed below are common song selections used for the processional of the family, wedding party, or both.

Canon in D
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Hymne
Ave Maria
Prelude in C
Wind Beneath My Wings
Meditation

Entrance of the Bride

Trumpet Voluntary
Bridal March
Angelus

Lighting of the Unity Candle

This part of the ceremony is when the bride and groom light a candle together to symbolize their unity. Not all ceremonies include a unity candle, but it is very common. Sometimes a sand, rose, or wine ceremony is used in place of the unity candle. Since this part of the ceremony is rather short, usually only one song or even a section of a song is used.

The Nightingale
Amazing Grace
To a Wild Rose
The Lord's Prayer
Only Time (Enya)

All I Ask of You

Recessional

The recessional is the exit of the bride and groom followed by the wedding party and family. The music is usually upbeat and cheerful, although any style or genre of music can be used.

Wedding March
Sonata in D
Ode to Joy
Spring (from "The Four Seasons")
Hornpipe

Postlude

The postlude is the exit of the guests. Music is played until all the guests have left the ceremony location.

Reception

The reception often has a variety of music. Many people prefer harp music during the cocktail hour and/or while the guests have dinner, and then have a band or DJ after dinner—although harp music can be used throughout the entire reception.  Available genres of music include classical, jazz, popular music, love songs, Broadway, movie themes, Celtic / Irish, etc.

All I Ask of You
Watermark
Wind Beneath My Wings
Somewhere in Time

The Way You Look Tonight
